A Baylor University Engagement in Waco, Texas | Matthew & Rachel

It was a warm and sunny day February day in Texas, but the slight wind made the temperature comfortable and pleasant. It was the perfect day to spend outside, and for a couple who loves to fish, heading to the creek was a natural choice. So they loaded up and headed to their favorite spot tucked between the science and music building on Baylor’s campus. As they set up and began fishing a few feet from each other, Rachel’s mind wandered back to the first time they went fishing together, nearly two years prior. It was their first date, and they had a wonderful time together… even if Rachel did accidentally hook Matthew with her line! She smiled, thinking about how far their relationship had come over the past two years… even if her fishing skills hadn’t improved terribly. :)

In fact, Rachel’s line was becoming more and more tangled by the minute on that warm February day. After about an hour and a half, Matthew saw she was having trouble and asked her to come over to him, promising to help her catch something. Rachel handed him her fishing pole as he knelt by his tackle box, trying to ignore her frustration. But instead of fixing her pole, Matthew sat it down and reached into his pocket. Rachel expected him to pull out a fishing lure, but instead he revealed a beautiful ring and asked Rachel to spend the rest of her life with him. It was just the two of them, spending time together, and it couldn’t have been more perfect.

On Monday, Lucas and I traveled to Waco, Texas to spend the afternoon with Matthew and Rachel for their Baylor University engagement session. We saw the marching field where they met each other, the music building where Rachel spent most of her time, and the creek where Matthew proposed.

Rachel and Matthew, thank you so much for allowing us into your lives for an afternoon. We had a fantastic time getting to know you better and seeing firsthand where the two of you slowly fell in love. We hope that when you look at these photographs, you see the love that you share... and we hope you’ll cherish that always.
