An Ethereal Woodland Arkansas Wedding | Ian + Courtney
Sometimes, when I sit down to write about the weddings I’m asked to document, I don’t know where to start. So sometimes I start at the beginning - with the busting about and the preparation for what’s to come. Sometimes I write about the first look and how beautiful the moment is when two people in love truly realize that they’re about to make the biggest commitment of their lives. Sometimes I write about the ceremony and the gravity of promise made before God and man. And while I could start at any of these places today and there would be a beautiful story to tell, with these two it seems most appropriate not to start with a moment, but with people. With Courtney and Ian. With the love that they share that’s so strong it fills the room. With Courtney’s contagious smile and Ian’s steady, affectionate gaze whenever she is near. With the tears of happiness and overflowing emotions that were a constant all day long. Because even though everything about this wedding was stunning, these were the things that really took my breath away.
Since Courtney and Ian chose to share a first look, their wedding day was relaxed and slowly paced. There was plenty of time to document not only the traditional, posed elements of their day, but also the beautiful moments in between. The moments where two people in love and those they cared most about were simply enjoying the day and being with each other. These types of moments - carefree and present - are my absolute favorite, and I love how the first look and scheduling plenty of time for portraits makes that possible! And when the ceremony started, the moment Courtney and Ian said “I do” was one of the best moments all day long… followed closely by the heartfelt speeches during the reception that allowed everyone present to catch just a glimpse of how special these two are.
Courtney and Ian, truly - thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting me to share in and photograph your wedding day. I think you guys are so, so wonderful, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have shared in the celebration of your first day as husband and wife! I hope you enjoy these photographs as much as I do, and I wish you both nothing but the best in your future together.
