A Big Cedar Lodge destination Wedding in the ozark mountains | David & Makaela

Small beads of water dripped from lush green bushes as dark blue clouds rolled by overhead, reflecting off crystal water and making everything look crisp and alive. It was that cool moment after a big storm, and Makaela was tucked away in a large bathroom somewhere near the corner of the even larger house. In between applications of eyeshadow and lipstick, she could see outside to the rolling hills and expansive waters through a window over the bathtub, and even though the scene outside wasn’t quite what she expected, the weather turned out being even better than she could have ever imaged. It was cool but not cold, and not a drop of water fell from the overcast skies that provided beautiful light from the first moment they stepped outside until the sun dipped beyond the horizon.

Makaela and David were married at Big Cedar Lodge in Ridgedale, Missouri, and for a girl from southeast Kansas and a boy from the mountains of Colorado, it truly seemed like the best of both worlds. Everywhere you turned was expansive views of rolling hills and beautiful lakes, and the location couldn’t have been any more picturesque or ideal. And even though they planned the entire day from a distance, everything came together perfectly. All of their friends and family traveled to the heart of the Ozarks to join together for their destination wedding, and everything - everywhere you looked - was simply stunning. From their custom designed and branded invitation suite (with details repeated throughout the entire day for a beautiful cohesive look!) to all of the rose gold, David and Makaela’s wedding day could not have been any more gorgeous.

David and Makaela, thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting me with the honor of documenting this special time in your lives. When you look at these images, I hope you remember all of the joy and love that you felt on the day you joined your hearts and lives together as one.
